“Letters from Afghanistan” is a YA book bursting with social consience, a Call to Action and most of all, a giant heart. Written as the first English story constructed by a native Italian speaking author, the book is intended to inspire, educate, and reach deep into the heart of readers everywhere, reminding us that we are all connected, each of us one link in a global daisy chain that may just be strong enough to hold its flower.

This was a lovely story about the struggles many women around the world experience - not having the right to an education. This book made me laugh, cry and reevaluate what I should be doing to help.

The insight into what women must endure in certain countries makes you remember that just because you don’t see it daily it doesn’t mean it isn’t happening and reminds you to always do things for those less fortunate than you when you can.

I loved this book! This book made me realise that, although you can't change the world, you can change a little part and it'll be equally fundamental in some way or the other. It also made me realise how often we take things for granted, like getting to eat 3 meals a day, having the freedom to hang out with friends.
I highly recommend you to read this book.

I really enjoyed this book! I loved the concept of two 14 year old girls from opposite sides of the world with completely different lives connecting on such a deep, personal level. I loved the perspective and inspiration that Basya gave to Olivia. Also, I absolutely adored Olivia's grandfather! I recommend this book!

Listen to me now - stories of children and young people with cancer

This masterpiece really changes your life.
Pagine lette, vite vissute
This book contains many things. It's able to teach you something, to make you think, it opens your eyes and allows you to understand such realities that often seem so distant from our own.

La ricercatrice di storie - go to the review
The great thing is that the young people with cancer are the real main chracters of this book. They write their own stories and this makes the book even more valuable.
Leggo per vivere - go to the review
I really admire and appreciate that someone has taken some time to write a book about such an important yet delicate topic to bring awareness about childhood cancer. This book also allow some people to have their voices heard, and we need to hear those voices. I got really emotional getting to know these young people through their own voices or those of their loved ones.
Persa tra le pagine - go to the review
These are the most emotional and raw pages I've always had the chance to read!

I've found this book to be really interesting showing the reality of the childhood cancer world we don't often talk about. It's also very strong emotionally, especially when we read the stories written by those who has survived. I've already knew some of the stories yet I've read them all with all my heart, feeling every single word.
Rosa, mom to 18 year old cancer angel Alex

I didn't only appreciated the book but also Maricla as a person. I got the feeling to know her. Through the pages of her book I could feel her willingness to help others, to be useful. I'd love to be like her one day and that's why I encourage everyone to read this book.
Addicted Life - go to the review
I've really liked the structure of the book. I got to know the writer from the first pages; she explains why she got into childhood cancer and writes about the charity she has set up to support teens with cancer. This is a deep, moving book, and every information is clearly explained.

This book is very well written, a simple yet poignant way of writing that allows the reader to read about something as painful as terminal illnesses and, in particular, about teenagers with cancer.
Angela Iacovello - go to the review
The writer manages to guide us inside an horrible situation with such a care. These things happen more often than we think and we learn, through the character of Allie, to enjoy the little things and truly live and celebrate life.
